It takes time to create a content schedule and write topics that your audience actually wants to read. It takes time to create a content schedule and write topics that your audience actually wants to read.

You want to create blog posts around your expertise, proving to both the search engines and your audience that you are the expert in this topic. The goal is to create an empire around your brand that makes people want to come back for more because they TRUST your advice! Building trust is the key.

Without further ado, let me give you the best Blog Writing Tips for Beginners and Business Owners that I can come up with – because that’s MY expertise! See what I did there?

How To Start a Blog

There’s a common misunderstanding surrounding the digital marketing space. Most people assume digital marketing is just Google Ads and social media posting. This is not even half of it, my friend.

While those are both critical parts of the entire digital marketing process, there is so much more to be done; website creation and maintenance, Google Adwords, social media ads, social media posting, SEO, blogging, email marketing, video marketing… the list really could go on.

But more to the point – 100% you should be blogging for your business.

Blogging is a great way to increase website traffic and generate leads for your business. My own business websites and every one of my clients’ websites is living proof of this!

To start a blog, you will need the following:

-A domain name (which can be purchased through a variety of websites. I prefer Google Domains)

-Web hosting (Copper Content recommends WordPress – it’s the easiest to navigate, high quality, and ranks the best in search engines)

-A blog theme (which can also be purchased through a variety of websites- we prefer Elegant Themes’ Divi Theme)

Then, start designing, either by yourself or hire a website designer to do it for you!

Create a Content Schedule

Once you have set up your blog website, it’s time to start creating content!

You will want to create a content schedule for yourself – this is important to stay consistent with your blog posts. And make sure that all of your blog posts are related to your blog brand – this will help you target the right audience.

The most important blog writing tip I can give is “just write!” Don’t worry about perfection, don’t over-think it, and definitely do not fear criticism! You want people to read what you have written, so make sure it is worth reading! That brings us to our next point:

How To Create Relevant Content

It’s no secret that one of the hardest things about blog writing is coming up with content ideas. You don’t want to bore your audience by rehashing the same topics repeatedly. The key is to be creative and come up with fresh content ideas that people will actually want to read.

Here are a few tips for generating blog post ideas:

-Browse the latest news and blog posts in your industry to get inspired

-Write about current trends or hot topics in your field

-Do a Google search for “Questions people are asking about [topic]” to find popular questions that you can answer in your blog post

-Look for common problems that people are struggling with within your industry or create a blog based on FAQ’s in your own business

-Write about an experience that relates to your blog post topic

Remember, blog writing is all about providing valuable content. Your aim should be to produce relevant blog posts that answer the questions people ask in your field.

Use Your Expertise

When you blog about what you are an expert in, it helps establish your brand as an authority in the industry. People want to read content from experts, not just someone randomly spouting off their opinions.

Plus, when you blog about what you know best, it makes it easier to come up with content ideas.

It is important to blog about what you are an expert in early on to help your blog rank higher for certain keywords. If people search “how to blog” and see that you have a helpful post with this information, they might be more inclined to visit your website or hire you as their blogging consultant later on down the road.

As I said above, the key to blog writing is to provide valuable content that helps your audience solve a problem or learn something new. When you blog about what you are an expert in, it makes it easier for you to do this and establishes you as an authority in the industry. So don’t be afraid to blog about what you know best – it’s your blog, after all!

Use Blogging To Increase Website Traffic and SEO

You want new customers to find you, don’t you? You want your product or service to be easily found on Google. This is the most important reason, if not the only reason, why you should be blogging.

Of course, you do! So start blogging, my friend. It’s never too late. Here’s how you can blog efficiently and effectively to increase your SEO:

-As you now know, you should only blog if you write about what you know best. It’s important to blog about topics related to your brand or niche to target the right keywords. Anything else begins to create confusion in the search engines.

If you’re a plumbing company in Las Vegas, you don’t want to show up for water parks in Las Vegas, do you? Use relevant keywords – in fact, shape each blog you create around a specific keyword you want to show up in Google for.

-Next, blog about current news or trends in your industry to attract new people looking for information on these topics. Plus, blog posts related to current events tend to be shared more often – which can help with SEO!

-Be consistent with how frequently you post blog content. Readers might forget about your blog and stop visiting if you blog once a month. It’s best to blog at least once a week, and no less than that. This will keep people coming back for more content without getting burned out on the topic. The more content you produce on your website, the quicker Google will recognize you as an authority.

-Link to other blog posts or articles on your website within your blog content. This is called internal linking, and it’s vital for your SEO. This will also help readers navigate your website and find blog posts that they might be interested in. Plus, linking blog post content to other relevant blog posts means you are providing more value and giving your audience different perspectives on the same topic – which is fantastic!

So there you have it! As a business owner, it’s important to utilize all of the marketing tools at your disposal – blog writing is one of the best ways to do this without having to spend a dime!
