One of the best decisions I’ve ever made in my business was realizing that I don’t have to say yes to every client.
When I first started Copper Content, I thought I did.
I was trying to grow. Build a portfolio. Pay the bills. I took on projects that weren’t a great fit simply because they were available.
Sometimes it worked out!
Sometimes… it really didn’t.
Now, after working with businesses across hospitality, wellness, tourism, home services, retail, and more, I’ve learned something important:
I’m not the right marketer for everyone.
And honestly? That’s a good thing!
I’d much rather work with clients I know I can genuinely help than overpromise something that isn’t realistic.
Our Mission & Values
When I started Copper Content, I knew I wanted to build something different.
Marketing has a reputation for being loud. Full of guarantees. Full of “growth hacks.” Full of people promising overnight success.
That never felt like me.
I wanted to build a business rooted in honesty. Thoughtful strategy. Genuine relationships. Marketing that actually helps people—not marketing that pressures them.
Our mission at Copper Content is simple: to create meaningful connections and offer genuine, mindful solutions in an industry that sometimes forgets the human side of business. Every decision I make—including who I work with—comes back to that mission.
Marketing Isn’t Magic
I wish I had a button I could press that instantly doubled everyone’s revenue.
Trust me lol.
But marketing doesn’t work that way.
One conversation I have pretty regularly is with business owners who are hoping marketing will completely turn around a struggling business.
Sometimes they haven’t found product-market fit yet.
Sometimes pricing is off.
Sometimes customer service needs work.
Sometimes the business has been declining for years.
Marketing can absolutely help bring in new people.
But it can’t fix every problem inside a business.
That’s why I’m honest from the very beginning. If I don’t think I’m the right solution—or if I think there are bigger issues to solve first—I’ll tell you.
I’d rather lose a project than take someone’s money knowing I can’t confidently deliver the results they’re hoping for.
Honesty Is One of My Best Marketing Tools
I’ll probably never be the marketer who promises you’ll double your revenue in 30 days.
Because I can’t promise that.
Every business is different.
What I can promise is that I’ll give you an honest assessment of where you are, what I think is possible, and what I’d do if it were my own business.
Sometimes that means recommending SEO.
Sometimes it’s Google Ads.
Sometimes it’s improving your website before spending another dollar on advertising.
And occasionally, it means telling someone they aren’t ready to hire me yet.
I know that sounds like an odd business model, but I’d rather earn someone’s trust than make a quick sale.
My Favorite Clients Aren’t Usually Huge Companies
People are sometimes surprised when I say this.
I genuinely love working with small businesses.
The family-owned restaurant.
The boutique hotel.
The yoga studio.
The pool company.
The esthetician opening her second location.
The husband-and-wife team who built something from the ground up.
Those are my people.
As a fellow small business owner, I understand what it’s like when every dollar matters. I know what it feels like to wear ten different hats and wonder if the marketing is actually working.
That’s where I feel like I can make the biggest impact.
I Love New Businesses… With a Plan
Some marketers won’t touch startups.
I actually enjoy them!
There’s something exciting about helping build a brand from the beginning.
That said, there’s a difference between a new business and an unprepared one.
I love working with business owners who have done the hard work. They know who they are, what they offer, and who they want to serve.
They’ve built something worth marketing.
Now they just need more visibility, more leads, or a little guidance on how to grow.
That’s a challenge I get excited about.
I Tend to Gravitate Toward Certain Industries
Over the years, I’ve noticed a pattern.
I naturally connect with businesses in wellness, travel, hospitality, and service industries.
Maybe it’s because I teach yoga myself.
Maybe it’s because I love traveling and exploring small towns.
Or maybe it’s because I enjoy working with businesses that are built around helping people.
Whatever the reason, those industries feel like home to me.
I understand how people shop for those services, what makes someone click, and how to create marketing that feels genuine instead of salesy.
Personality Matters More Than You Might Think
This one took me a while to learn.
For a long time, I thought being professional meant saying yes to everyone.
Now?
I think the best work happens when both sides actually enjoy working together.
I’ve worked with clients who were incredibly kind, collaborative, and trusted my expertise.
I’ve also worked with people who wanted to control every tiny detail, questioned every recommendation, or treated marketing like it should produce overnight miracles.
Those partnerships usually weren’t fun for either of us.
Life’s too short for that.
These days, I look for people who are collaborative. Curious. Respectful. Open to ideas. People who understand that good marketing is a partnership—not a tug-of-war.
If we laugh on our discovery call, that’s usually a pretty good sign.
I Believe Marketing Should Feel Collaborative
One of Copper Content’s core values is collaboration, and I don’t just mean within my own team.
The best marketing happens when we work together.
You know your business better than anyone.
I know how to get it in front of the right people.
When those two things come together, that’s when the magic happens.
I don’t want to disappear for three months and send you a report at the end.
I want clients who ask questions, share ideas, celebrate wins, and trust me enough to challenge each other when needed.
The relationship matters just as much as the results.
One of My Favorite Ways to Work Is Behind the Scenes
This surprises a lot of people.
I actually love white-label partnerships.
If you’re an agency, web designer, branding studio, or another marketing company that needs help with SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, or content writing, I’m probably your biggest fan.
I genuinely enjoy being the person behind the curtain.
As an introvert who happily works from my home office (usually with coffee nearby and at least one cat supervising), I love being able to support other agencies while they continue building relationships with their own clients.
It lets everyone focus on what they do best.
I’d Rather Build Long-Term Relationships Than Win Quick Projects
Some of my favorite clients have been with me for years.
Not because they signed a long contract.
Because we became a team.
I learned their business. They trusted my recommendations. We celebrated wins together and adjusted when something wasn’t working.
That’s the kind of relationship I’m looking for.
Marketing isn’t about checking boxes every month.
It’s about continually finding ways to help your business grow.
Supporting Other Small Businesses Matters to Me
One thing people don’t always realize is that when you hire Copper Content, you’re often supporting more than one small business.
Whenever a project calls for it, I partner with other talented local creatives—designers, writers, photographers, and social media specialists—who are incredible at what they do.
I love being able to keep that work within our community.
Small businesses supporting small businesses has always felt like the way it should be.
If It Sounds Like We’d Be a Good Fit, Let’s Talk
If you’re looking for a small business digital marketing company in Southern Utah, I’d love to hear about what you’re building.
Whether you need SEO, Google Ads, Meta Ads, content writing, or simply a marketing partner who’s invested in your success, let’s start with a free discovery call. We’ll talk through your goals, your business, and see if we’re the right fit for each other.
Already working with another marketing company? That’s completely okay.
If you’d like a second opinion, book a consulting and diagnosis call with me. We’ll take a thoughtful look at your current marketing strategy, identify opportunities for improvement, and I’ll give you honest, tailored recommendations—no pressure, no hard sell.
At the end of the day, I don’t want to be the biggest marketing agency in Southern Utah.
I want to be the one people trust.
The one that tells you the truth, even when it’s not the easiest answer.
The one that celebrates your wins right alongside you.
And hopefully, the one you feel excited to email because working together actually feels… enjoyable.
That’s the kind of business I set out to build.
And if that sounds like the kind of marketing partner you’ve been looking for, I’d love to meet you.
